Research Center for Multi-functional Flexible Materials and Device Design

Multifunctional flexible devices overcome the limitations of traditional discrete devices and instead implement the various functions in the form of a single integrated device By doing so, the degree of device and function integration is greatly enhanced and the cost competitiveness drastically improves, which may open up new possibilities for the future through a great number of new human-friendly smart devies. Because the multifunctional devices require the co-integration of different - often conflicting - functionalities of materials in a single device, the close collaboration and fusion research by the materials/device experts from various backgrounds is becoming more important at this point

KMU-UTD InFUSION center is a cooperative research center between Kookmin University (KMU) and the In-FUSION (International Future Semiconductor Innovation and Commercialization) Center at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), in which we strive to become a world-class research hub in the field of multi-functional flexible devices. Combining KMU’s expertise in multifunctional flexible materials processing as well as the UTD’s specialties in the semiconductor materials processing and device manufacturing and characterizations, the center will develop the world-class technologies in the materials design for multi-functional devices. In 2013, the center was selected as a recipient of the International Research Center Recruitment Award Program organized by the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, and was awarded $1.2 million for two years.
